Salty Yarns, where we share and connect through water wisdom 🌊

Salty Yarns is a community lead initiative to share water wisdom. These evenings are facilitated by Peninsula Surf Sisters, hosted by a range of speakers, and held by the Revillaging Project in Boneo.

This month we'll be sharing a surf themed life drawing workshop sprinkled with body image conversation, making the PSS community a safe space for bodies of all kinds.  This special event will be hosted by local artist Leyla Bulmer. Much of Leyla's work is inspired by the female form and understanding that the body holds much wisdom.

Drawing the human form can be a powerful exploration into the relationship we have with ourselves. The space created for this Yarn will be one of self-expression as well as self-inquiry - where we get to know ourselves more deeply through the study of another. During this Salty Yarn we will open up the conversation around body image as well as have some fun getting creative.

Leyla will guide participants to get creative and experimental, work with different mediums and try out different drawing techniques. Beginning with some quick warm-up sketches to loosen up and practice, participants will then focus on a number of longer poses. Our models will be those of us in this community, sporting our “finest” surf wear, posing in our favourite surf positions. All welcome, so if you feel like modelling, just bring your along wetsuit or bathers to pose in.

We’ll take some time to feel into how important it is for us all to feel seen, creating a space in which our feminine energy can be brought forward. A chance to get to know and feel its importance. Becoming more comfortable with this part of us has the power to bring us closer to our true selves.

No drawing experience is needed. All materials and cuppa & nibbles are included.

* All people welcome.

* 15 tickets available. If you purchase a ticket and later find out you cannot attend please text Sacha (0421497919), so we can open the space to another person eager to learn.

* The ticket price supports the event to run and includes a cup of chai and nibbles to enjoy together during the yarn.

* Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements. Chai will be made with oat milk, honey and non-caffinated tea.

* Please bring a reusable cup. If you don’t remember, we have some spare - so please don’t worry. But it would be a great help.

Oceans of gratitude,

Peninsula Surf Sisters
